Controlled Conversion of Sodium Metal From Nuclear Systems to Sodium Chloride

چکیده
A series of three bench-scale experiments was performed to investigate the conversion sodium metal chloride via reactions with non-metal and chlorides. Specifically, batches molten were separately contacted ammonium ferrous form in both cases along iron latter case. Additional added two low melting point consolidated mixtures chloride, whereas consolidation a sodium-chloride product separate batch. Samples products characterized X-ray diffraction identify attendant compounds. The reaction metered particulate feeds proceeded without excursions produced pure colorless chloride. yielded occasional as evidenced by temperature spikes fuming producing dark salt-metal mixture. This investigation into method for controlled is particularly applicable containing elevated levels radioactivity—including bond from nuclear fuels—in remote-handled inert-atmosphere environments.

Human toxicity High NaCl intake without corresponding intake of water can lead to hypernatremia: the ratio of sodium to water exceeds normal, and both the plasma sodium concentration and the total body sodium increase. Consequently, the balance of extracellular and intracellular osmolality is disturbed, which can result in several clinical symptoms, like excessive thirst, weakness, headache, ir...

The mode of coordination of8 manganese(fI), cobaltm, nickel(H), copper(II), zinc(H), lead(II) and cadmium(I1) to sodium ascorbate (NaHAsc) was investigated using IR, UV-visible, AAS, elemental microanalyzer, conductivity, magnetic and 'M and I3C NMR spectroscopic studies, NaNAsc is bidentate and coordination was through the carbonyl group and the oxygen atom of carbon-2 enolic hydfoxyl grou...

Obligatory, coupled cotransport of Na(+), K(+), and Cl(-) by cell membranes has been reported in nearly every animal cell type. This review examines the current status of our knowledge about this ion transport mechanism. Two isoforms of the Na(+)-K(+)-Cl(-) cotransporter (NKCC) protein (approximately 120-130 kDa, unglycosylated) are currently known. One isoform (NKCC2) has at least three altern...
